The glorious year 2012 is started by the Nusa Dua Fiesta before the other following parties to sign up the end of the year. This 4 days festival was opened on November 2nd by the Ogoh Ogoh and will be up to November 5th. It was officially opened by the Govenor of Bali, I Made Mangku Pastika, which was attended by a big crowd of people that are mixed between locals and tourists. All were one in the joy to celebrate a cultural festival. The fiesta takes place in BTDC – Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC), which is located in Hotels complex of Nusa Dua. This year’s theme is “Segara Lelangunan” or in English is “Enjoying The Beauty of The Sea”. It serves the meaning of taking care of sea and beach ecosystem to support sea tourism.
This is focusing on the green tourism in order to make Bali tourism sustainable through environmental conservation. Through this annual event, it is hoped that Bali tourism will be the icon festival of Nusa Dua to develop the area and generate tourists visit despite of for a nice, comfortable and suitable destination both for domestic tourists and international visitors. The festival also encourages local products promotion to be more creative and highly qualified. The pioneer of all festivals in Bali or Indonesia such as Kuta Carnival, Ubud Festival, Sanur Festival and etc has been assigned in to the international evens calendar. Additionally, some events highlighted for four days are: Indonesia Music Expo (IMEX), Bali Culinary Challenge 2012, Sustainable Seafood Workshop, Science Film Festival, Traditional Art Performance, Underwater Photo Exhibition.
The Indonesia Music Expo (IMEX) will collaborate world’s class musicians and local ones on Saturday and Sunday starting at 5 pm up to 11 pm. The Bali culinary challenge 2012 competition is held in partnership with the Indonesian Chef Association, as well as a workshop of Indonesian sustainable seafood. The kids’ program of the Science Film Festival is aimed to show community that science and technology can be presented in a fun and educative way. The program is also aimed to contribute the infrastructure of technology development as well as to support the science and technology education for children. Meanwhile the traditional art performance is conducted in a quite unique way. The committee uses “Ngelawang” system or visiting one place to another to bring the performance to the people instead of people come to see the performance. The ngelawang visits one hotel to another around the BTDC complex with barong dance performed by a group of people.
On the other hand, the Underwater Photo Exhibition is highlighted here. The theme is UNDERWATER PARADISE: The Beauty of Marine Biodiversity’s Nusa Dua and Beyond Bali. Elevating people’s awareness to the importance of the marine ecosystem and sea conservation are the main goals of the exhibition, which is featuring local and foreign photographers. The underwater photos were taken from different areas, which are the favorable places to dive such as Tulamben, Raja Ampat, Nusa Dua and many more places.
The new icon of Nusa Dua, a 17 m high Kresna – Arjuna sculpture, was launched during the fiesta opening. This might not be a thing to miss out. Meanwhile so many food stalls to visit, to try out the food while enjoying the products presented and performance at the venue.
